Electric

The electric's off.
You're thrown off course.
But the inclemency outside?
That's 100 times worse.

Gran demands the torch.
Over in her Bedroom.
The Laptop is still on.
Thanks to the battery.
Shut it down, or it will go 'boom'.

Your Brother entertains you.
Without the electricity mains.
Old Shadow Puppets.
From a world before Muppets.

Should we switch on the generator?
Gran says no.
The electric will come on later.

Then we phoned friends.
Thank God for Mobiles.
But not the iPhone trend.
Their electric's okay.
But they weren't round our way.

Gran phoned a Neighbour.
About NIE's Labour.
She's still waiting so patient,
My Brother's agitation's blatant.

We rang our own handy man.
To switch on the generator.
To drive then takes a hardy man.

But we didn't have the key.
To switch on the generator.
I felt less manly.
But then the light went back on.
The black out was 90 Minutes long.

So every thing's now fine and dandy.
Thanks to the NIE repair.
It seemed so handy.
This was a night to remember.
Thursday 11th November.
