Frost

It really was Breakfast with Frost!

No Richard Nixon this time,

Just a careful driver lost!

Stuck on an ungritted hill!

Enough to test my fledgling will!

I got help from a fellow driver!

One I knew from School!

He gave me advice to negotiate the jam!

I was no longer a fool!

The frost was unbearable!

On the way to chapel!

The accelerator would make it harum scarum!

It makes me curse like a Rapper!

After Communion, it was to the Shop!

The ice on the Car Park was fierce!

If I go hard I'd slide and flop!

Getting the paper and a few odds and ends!

Then no negotiate the frosty bends!

If I crashed, Gran would be in Tears!

Later in the foreboding day!

I had to take my Brother out to Subway!

The roads were still like a skating rink!

The traction was often on the brink!

But I found a SuperValu Bay!

Then he went for his Sub!

I was waiting Half an Hour!

Eventually he got his grub!

But the way home was still laid with peril!

Luckily no Boy Racers acting feral!

Chatting to Friends on Facebook!

Talking about the chance on the road I took!

It felt really bad today!

The people were mad that way!

I found a niche for exposing crooks!

So that's another Manic Sunday!

Not so serene for just this one day!

But some divine intervention!

With help you don't have to mention!

Tomorrow's roads will be gritted, for it'll be Monday!

The Car

Lord, I don't want a Mercedes Benz!
I'm happy with a Ford!
It's what I can afford!
I somehow have to meet my ends!
Finding a Job isn't Heaven Sent!

I just want an ordinary life!
With the hope of finding a Wife!
Something has caused strife!
In the process of being a Man!
I can't do what other Men can!

On the M1 today with my Brother!
Negotiating the frosty roads, that was a real bother!
The fear of an accident compounds!
Dealing with drivers that have done the rounds!

Arrive in a Diner on the A4!
Parking Bays full of Snow!
They would have no chance to thaw!
The worry was their portion sizes!
And Coca-Cola offering Christmas Prizes!

Arriving home it was Brass Monkeys!
But we do have Bananas!
And we have the Shed's Lock's Key!
Groceries bought throughout the Day!
But it's getting harder and harder to pay!

Minus 4 Degrees!
In Celsius, with snow on the Trees!
Feeling warm inside!
Recovering some wounded pride!
Avoiding the great big freeze!

35 Lines of Poetry!
Two and a Half Sonnets!
TV talks about Winter Payments!
Gran is entitled!
But finding work?
I'm on to it!
